Signing Day Spotlight on Allen Crabbe

BearTerritory caught up with future Golden Bear shooting guard Allen Crabbe prior to Signing Day for a video interview.
A member of the Rivals150, Crabbe told us about some of his goals during his senior season, plus answered a host of questions about his future in the Cal program in this Signing Day Spotlight.

SCOUTING REPORT:
We love this kid, and its hard not to. He's already a fearless scorer who will not be intimidated to play big minutes in college as a true freshman. Crabbe is a 6-foot-6, 190-pound prospect who continues to improve his physique and core strength. The reigning CIF Div. IV Southern Section Player of the Year, the Price high school scorer can really do it all on the court. He reminds us a lot of current Cal senior guard Patrick Christopher, who just so happens to be a guy that Crabbe has known for years. Perhaps our favorite thing about Crabbe is how he lets the game come to him. He has the ability to dribble past defenders or pull back with the jumper, and he can be a defensive stopper and a presence as a rebounder, but no matter what he does he does not force the action. Crabbe plays within himself about as well as anyone we saw on the West Coast this past summer.
COACHABILITY:
Crabbe was the first verbal commitment in Cal's terrific 2010 recruiting class, and in the process, he was really the first to recruit to see how much Cal had changed under second-year head coach Mike Montgomery. It didn't take long for him to give Cal the thumbs up too. The bottom line on Crabbe is that he wanted to be a Golden Bear as much as the Cal wanted him too, and that's the greatest match you can have.
THINGS TO WORK ON:
Crabbe will be the first to tell you his weaknesses before his strengths, and his ability to handle the ball more fluidly is topic number one. However, he's better at it than he gives himself credit. He's already a legit Pac-10 scorer, and he's a full year away from even donning the Blue and Gold. We feel he could get even more active on the offensive glass, and there will be times where he needs to pick it up defensively. But beyond that, it would be more difficult to find a shooter who squares himself up better than "AC".
