Rahshawn Clark only took one official visit after narrowing his choices down to a select group of schools in the spring. Cal eventually was the lone program to bring the three-star athlete in from Seattle, so when the 6-foot prospect announced his commitment Wednesday afternoon it probably shouldn't have been a surprise which school he picked.
Clark is following his Garfield High School teammate, EJ Caminong, to Berkeley after announcing his pledge to the Bears on Wednesday to become the 10th commitment for Justin Wilcox's program in the 2024 class.
Ultimately, Clark chose Cal over a final group that included Oregon, Washington, Oregon State, Louisville, and Michigan State.
"Definitely the vibe on campus," Clark said about what went into his commitment. "I know how I am as a person, and I know I don't fit everywhere. So, definitely the vibe on campus that I got from the staff, the strength and conditioning coach, the people that work in the stores on campus, everything."
Clark's official visit ultimately sealed his commitment, and he says the Bears answered every remaining question he had about the program during that trip after he previously was able to get on campus earlier in the spring.
What set the program apart from the others on the list and eventually pushed him to make a decision came down to his relationship with the Bears staff. Terrence Brown's connections back to Washington were pivotal in bringing Clark to Cal as was his relationship with fellow defensive backs coach Tre Watson.
