SAN FRANCISCO -- We're back from our holiday break, and, boy, do we have a treat for you, as we return to our home turf at The Republic at 3213 Scott St., San Francisco -- the best place to watch the NFL playoffs and all Cal basketball games.
There's a reason that the Bear Republic Podcast has become an online sensation, and we don't rest on our laurels. Joining us this week on the highly-acclaimed Bear Republic Podcast is the quarterback of the future -- the young man who has promised not only to return California to the Rose Bowl, but to take the Bears to multiple New Years Day dates in Pasadena: 2012 quarterback signee Zach Kline.
An Under Armour All-American, Kline went 19-of-32 for 288 yards and one touchdown against Concord (Calif.) De La Salle in the North Coast Section title game and completed 230 of 341 passes (67.4 percent) for Danville (Calif.) San Ramon Valley for a total of 3,630 yards, 36 TDs, seven picks, a 129 QB rating, and eight rushing touchdowns -- the most rushing TDs on the team -- in his senior season for the Wolves, en route to earning the Gatorade California High School Football Player of the Year award.
An early enrollee, Kline will participate in spring football along with offensive tackle Christian Okafor in the months to come, and will welcome a recruiting class that is currently ranked No. 9 in the country by Rivals.com.
Kline and his good friend Bryce Treggs are the progenitors of the ever-popular twitter hashtag -- #CalGang -- which has been immortalized by BearTerritory on t-shirts, available for purchase HERE.
The future Bears signal-caller talks about his All-American experience, the 2012 recruiting class and how he's preparing to make a big run at the starting gig come sping practice.
We also discuss the impact of Cal's mammoth recruiting day at the US Army All-American Bowl, including commitments from Jordan Payton, Shaq Thompson and Ellis McCarthy, as well as the chances that Aziz Shittu, Arik Armstead and others join the ever-popular #CalGang in Berkeley come National Signing Day on Feb. 1.

Of course, BearTerritory and the Bear Republic Podcast would not be where it is without our amazing subscribers, and the support of Shaw Amirghassemkhany, as well as the other Cal fans who helped to fund the trip to San Antonio through their incredibly generous donations: Richard Guo, Bob Weston, Senghak Tank, Francis Spieldenner, Thomas Pak, Top Right Inc., Kevin Lange, Shawn Kilgore, Thomas Boitano, Arthur Li, Lanway Ling, Liam Moran, Jonathan Lynn, Lindsay LaRoche, Jason Vallerga, Andrew Peceimer, Michael Ambrosano, Eric Dimaano, Ted Hong, IdeationWorks, Jeffrey Templin, William West, Richard Dorsey, Chihiro Kurokawa, Stefan Hura, Jonathan Hoff and David Halloway.
Not only do we talk football recruiting -- and the possible destination of Armstead -- but we also get into both men's and women's hoops, previewing the men's Thursday clash against Pac-12 foe Colorado.
Who's on the visit list for Jan. 27? Find out HERE, and if you want to find out how the Bears stand with their remaining targets, well, you'll just have to listen!
Don't forget that we'll be hosting a post-National Signing Day party at The Republic -- details to come -- so make your plans to join us the first week of February!
