SAN FRANCISCO -- The record-setting California softball team heads into a huge weekend starting Thursday at 3 PM, as the No. 1 Bears square off with No. 2 Arizona State.
Cal (48-3, 12-1 in Pac-12) boasts two semifinalists for the ASA Player of the Year award in Valerie Arioto and Danielle Henderson, making the Bears one of just two teams to boast two of the 11 semifinalists, with the other being Oklahoma.
In our first hour, we bring on Cal second baseman Jace Williams, who will be front-and-center along with Henderson and Arioto on Saturday during Senior Day festivities. We also go over the Cal football team's NFL Draft picks and undrafted free agent signees.
In our premium second hour, we are joined by Bears softball pitching legend Kristina Thorson, a three-time All-American and the 2006 Pac-10 Pitcher of the year, who helped the Bears to their last Women's College World Series appearance before last season's trip to Oklahoma City. Thorson was just the second pitcher in Cal history to record 100 career wins and 1,000 career strikeouts, making the WCWS three times during her storied career in Berkeley.
Thorson is preparing to return to the Akron Racers of the National Pro Fastpitch League, but before then, she'll make an appearance at her old stomping grounds of Levine-Fricke Field on Saturday for the Bears' final regular-season game.
Following Thorson's appearance, we go in-depth with the state of Cal football recruiting, going position by position and analyzing the Bears' positional needs, so be sure to stay tuned for the most in-depth Bears recruiting discussion on the internet!
