SAN FRANCISCO -- We have a special super-sized, two-part Bear Republic Podcast for you folks this week, and we have a lot to get to.
We open up with a review of National Signing Day, the early edition, as basketball, baseball and yes, even swimming signed plenty of high-powered recruits to national letters of intent.
Terri McKeever's women's swimming and diving squad added four top-15 swimmers on Wednesday, with none bigger than five-time Olympic gold medalist Missy Franklin, who called California the "perfect" fit.

Mike Montgomery and his men's basketball team also signed a game-changing class, headed up by five-star wing Jabari Bird, and including four-star guard Jordan Mathews and three-star point Sam Singer.
On the baseball diamond, head coach David Esquer looks to improve on his top-25 class of a year ago by adding eight signees to the 2013 class, including the top right-handed pitcher in the state in Trevin Haseltine and top-100 catcher John Riley, not to mention one of the best pure hitters in the state in middle infielder Robbie Tenerowicz.

Also in our first hour, we break down the Cal football team's performance against No. 2 Oregon last week in the final home game of the year at the newly-renovated California Memorial Stadium.
Was quarterback Allan Bridgford's performance enough to give him an edge in next year's race to be the Bears' starting quarterback? What can Cal take away from its defensive performance against the explosive Ducks? We break down all that and more as we discuss last week's game.
We conclude the first hour with a special interview with the football beat writer from our Oregon State site -- BeaverBlitz.com -- in Boone Kruger, who breaks down the quarterback situation and what makes the Beavers' ball-hawking defense tick.
In our second hour, we go in-depth with our scouting of Oregon State, and what a win or a loss means to the future of head coach Jeff Tedford.
The Beavers possess dynamid wide receivers Brandin Cooks and veteran Markus Wheaton, who own 118 receptions on the year between them, and are averaging over 200 combined receiving yards per game.
We spend our final 20 minutes analyzing the performance of the Cal basketball team over the first two games, and what the schedule looks like moving forward, with a Friday tilt against Denver on the docket, as well as a Thanksgiving weekend slate in the DirecTV Classic in Anaheim, Calif.
