More on Mathews commitment

Last weekend, California scored a major target in Jabari Bird. Sunday, they are on the board again in the class of 2013.
While on his official visit to the Cal campus, four-star combo guard Jordan Mathews of Santa Monica (Calif.) High decided to end things.

Mathews actually informed Mike Montgomery and his staff on Saturday night before confirming the news with Rivals.com on Sunday morning.
"I chose Cal because my family would be able to play," said Mathews. "They play great competition and the team and staff are great."
Currently ranked No. 85 nationally, Mathews gives the Golden Bears another pure scorer on the wing.
He can attack off the dribble, is stronger at the rim than you might think and is an excellent pull-up jump shooter. Additionally, Mathews is one of the better perimeter defenders in the class of 2013.
Now that he's officially on board with Cal, Mathews will look forward to working with Bird to lock up other targets like Aaron Gordon, Marcus Lee and big man Torren Jones.
