Miller gets offer, chats with Monty

Tory Miller is feeling the California love.

Just three days into the NCAA's newest contact period, Miller, a bullish big with a nose for the ball, has been receiving daily phone calls from the Golden Bears.
"I talked to Coach Gregg Gottlieb on Monday and Coach Travis DeCuire yesterday. He told me I had an offer, and then Coach Mike Montgomery called this morning. He said he really likes my attitude and how hard I play. He likes that I'm really physical."
At 6-8, 250-pounds, Miller has the body to go along with his bruising style of play, but he's by no means limited to muscling his way inside. A gifted athlete with the ability to cover ground in a hurry, the 2014 prospect has the versatility to beat you any number of ways.
"I feel like I'm a physical guy who can run the floor and help out on the break, or, if you need to slow the game down, I can play with my back to the basket."
The Bears, however, aren't the only program to notice the Midwesterner's talent, and when Miller spoke to GoldenBearReport Wednesday evening, he'd just gotten off the phone with Shaka Smart and the VCU coaching staff.
"I literally got off the phone with them five minutes ago," chuckled Miller. "They were all on the call but Coach Smart was the one who gave me the [scholarship offer] news."
While the offers will continue to accumulate, Miller says he and his parents have "made progress" deciding where he'd like to visit this fall.
"I've already been to Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and St. Louis...Cal's looking really good. They've got as good a chance as anyone, definitely."
