Lost in the shuffle when Cal switched over to the 3-4 defense this season was the hogs up front that made it possible for the talented linebackers to roam around. If the front-3 wasn't getting the job done then the 3-4 scheme is simply not going to work. The linemen more than held their own this past season and the Bears picked up another athlete that will likely continue that success for years to come, as bruising tackle Keni Kaufusi is officially a member of the Cal football program.
Kaufusi's talent is unmistakable, and a number of college coaches have told BearTerritory over the past two months that he could be the best defensive tackle in the west this season. However, because Kaufusi was a class of 2008 signee (with Utah), and his highlight tape has never been published, he's gone deeply under the radar.
BearTerritory will have much more on Kaufusi's signing in the coming hours.
