Gutierrez, Kamp named to All-Academic Team

Today, the Pac-10 Conference announced its annual Men's Basketball All-Academic Team.
Both junior guard Jorge Gutierrez and Harper Kamp of the California basketball team were named to the five man squad, which included junior Nicholas Fearn and junior Garrett Sim of Oregon, and junior Josh Owens of Stanford.

Three players were named as honorable mention selections: senior Rihards Kuksiks of Arizona State, junior Brendan Sherrer of Washington and the Cardinal's Andrew Zimmerman, a junior.
Gutierrez -- also named to the All-Pac-10 First Team and to the conference's All-Defensive Team -- has a 3.02 GPA in Interdisciplinary Studies, and finished the year as the Bears' leading scorer -- averaging 14.6 points per game -- and as Cal's assists leader, dishing out an average of 4.5 helpers per game.
Kamp has a 3.10 GPA in American Studies, and was also named to the All-Pac-10 second team. During the 2010-11 season, Kamp was second on the Bears in scoring -- averaging 14.2 points per game -- while pulling down 5.6 boards per contest.
