Contract Details: Associate Head Coach, Defense and ILB coach Peter Sirmon

Cal hired Peter Sirmon as their 10th assistant back on January 19th, and through a Freedom of Information Act Request, the details of his contract have been shared with GoldenBearReport.com, and we're here to break them down to you.

Contract Basics:

Like Burl Toler's contract, Sirmon's contract runs until June 30th of 2019, from the date of his hire on January 19th.

- The annual base salary for Sirmon is $250,000

- Sirmon has a talent fee, one for going onto broadcasts, pregame and postgame shows affiliated with the team, booster gatherings and other functions, that amount totaling $135,000 annually.

- Sirmon is set to receive a hiring bonus of $125,000 within the first 30 days of his contract being executed

- Sirmon also has multiple retention bonuses, as long as he stays employed as an assistant coach through the first spring football practice, he will receive a bonus of $80,000. If he's employed through the first fall practice, he'll receive $80,000. If he's employed through the end of the 2018 season, he'll receive $80,000. Finally, if he's employed through to the end of this contract, he'll receive $90,000.

- Sirmon will be reimbursed for moving expenses up to $25,000. If he leaves before January 31st of 2019, he'll have to repay those to the school

For his first year of employment, with retention bonuses in place, that means his salary for the 2018 season is $750,000, a pay cut from what he made at Louisville.

- In the event Sirmon is fired without cause before the end of his contract, he'll be owed 100% of the base salary, talent fee, and retention bonus earned for the remainder of the term.

- If Wilcox were to resign before the end of the term, the University has the right to terminate the contract, in which case they'd pay one month of base salary and talent fee as liquidated damages, along with all performance based incentives earned before the effective date of termination.

Incentives:

Sirmon has the same incentives for Cal reaching Bowl and Championship games as the rest of the staff, granted that the team's four-year APR is 930 or greater (last year, that number was 978). The bonuses are as follows

- $15,000 if the team participates in the Pac-12 Championship Game

- $25,000 if the team participates in the Rose, Fiesta, Sugar, Orange, Cotton, or Peach Bowl

- $10,000 if the team participates in the National Championship Game

- $10,000 if the team finishes the regular season with a winning percentage better than 50% and participates in a bowl game other than the ones listed above

- Up to $5,000 if the team finishes the regular season with a winning percentage less than 50% and participates in a bowl game other than those named above
