Cal Not Out Of Kurke Running

Austin Kurke may yet end up at Cal.

Once considered a solid verbal for the Naval Academy, the 6-foot-4, 225lb tight end from El Segundo is willing to hear what the Bears have to say.
"Cal was at the top of my list last summer," he told Rivals on Tuesday.
The Bears, however, were late extending an offer, so Kurke pledged to Annapolis, in part because his Aunt recently moved there. Family's not the only consideration, though. Five minutes with Kurke and it's clear that the soft-spoken young man from Southern California has a real interest in serving his country - something that hasn't been lost on the armed forces community. Kurke holds scholarship offers from all three academies.
But he also likes Cal's pro-style offense, and the team's recent slide doesn't appear to worry him.
"I still believe in the program," says Kurke.
And if Tedford's dismissed? Well, then he's "not sure."
More certain, is his willingness to consider all vantages.
"I know Berkeley and Annapolis are completely different places," he acknowledges, "so I'm going to take my official visit sometime in late December, early January with my dad and probably my grandpa. Hopefully, I'll know after that."
