The Centennial High (Peoria, Ariz.) offensive lineman becomes the second o-line commit for the Bears, joining La Mirada's Michael Trani.
"Coach (Zach) Yenser started talking to me in the Spring, he liked my film , liked me, he was just trying to get the offensive coordinator on his side," Bennett told GoldenBearReport on Wednesday, just after picking up the offer from the Bears. "It's been like a long process -- through summer, through fall, he said he really liked me the entire time it was just getting the OC on board -- my film this year helped a lot."
Bennett had seven offers in all, with the Bears beating out the likes of Oregon State and Air Force for the Arizona product.
"With Cal, I've actually been there -- I visited there unofficially in the spring, loved it, it's right by Bay, the weather is nice, a small college town, it's just awesome awesome. I mean right now, I'd say Cal is probably my top."
Bennett told GoldenBearReport on Wednesday he plans to take an official visit to Cal in the next month or so, likely one his team's playoff run is concluded.
