Alex Lagemann departs Cal football team
The Cal football team has confirmed that wide receiver
Alex Lagemann is no longer on the Bears roster.
The official reason for Lagemann not returning for his senior season in 2011 is that he is graduating on time in May of 2011 and has just decided to move on.
Lagemann saw action in 21 games over the past two seasons, hauling in 12 passes for 150 yards in 2009, but just one pass for eight yards in 10 games in 2010.
With the redshirt seasons just used for a trio of wide receivers in the 2010 recruiting class-
Tevin Carter,
Kaelin Clay and
Terrance Montgomery-as well as larger roles for
Keenan Allen and
Coleman Edmond and the returning veteran duo of
Marvin Jones and
Michael Calvin, Lagemann was seemingly the odd man out.
Lagemann was a fan-favorite for his solid hands and his off-the-field musical exploits with teammate
Michael Costanzo, which made him something of a folk hero among Cal fans.
