4-Star Offensive Lineman Will Craig Commits to Cal

Three days after a Yahoo Sports article called Cal QB commit JT Shrout "one of the biggest steals of the 2018 recruiting class", the Bears went out to get someone to protect him.

It's a big one, literally and figuratively, as the Bears scored on their top offensive line target in Will Craig, a big offensive lineman out of Granite Bay HS. Craig becomes the second four-star of the 2018 class for the Bears, and the 10th member of the class.

Craig has been on the Bears' mind for a while, as they got him to visit in mid-April with teammate and Cal LB target Evan Tattersall (whose dad played for Steve Greatwood at Oregon). He was a standout at the Opening Regionals in Oakland, making it to the Opening Finals in Beaverton, while being one of the biggest risers in the Rivals recruiting rankings. He's Cal's first recruit of the cycle in the Rivals250

Craig is probably the biggest get of the class so far, in terms of need and national stature. A listed 6'5" and 265 lbs, Craig has room to grow into his frame, and has already shown the potential to be a fantastic offensive tackle, someone that Steve Greatwood can mold into a multi-year starter. Greatwood expects four of the five offensive linemen that he gets in this class to start, and Craig has the potential to be very good in that regard. With offensive line depth being a high priority, Craig is a great fit for the Bears.

Craig picked Cal over offers from Oregon, Notre Dame, UCLA, and Washington among others. He's ranked as the 14th ranked offensive tackle in the country, the 178th ranked player nationally, and the 24th ranked player in the state of California.
