4-star Nygel Edmonds Flips to Cal

Cal added a very impressive piece to their 2016 recruiting class when 4-star defender Nygel Edmonds of McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tennessee flipped his commitment from Stanford on Monday. Edmonds had been committed to Stanford since April, and was admitted to the school last month.

The 5'11", 183 pound Edmonds is the 24th commitment in the Golden Bear class. He becomes the fifth defensive back to commit, alongside JuCo signee Marloshawn Franklin, Traveon Beck of St. John Bosco, Camryn Bynum of Centennial and Josh Drayden of Bishop Dunne in Dallas.

Rivals rates Edmonds as a 4-star (5.8) prospect and the 12th best cornerback prospect in the 2016 class. He is also ranked as the #3 prospect in the state of Tennessee and 193rd best nationally. Edmonds is the third member of Cal's recruiting class in the Rivals 250, along with quarterback Max Gilliam (#173) and slot Melquise Stovall (#139). He is Cal's fourth 4-star pledge in the class.

In addition to Stanford, Edmonds held over 30 scholarship offers, including Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, and more.
