3-Star OLB Evan Tattersall Commits to Cal

Why have one when you can have two?

That was the attitude of the Cal coaching staff over the past couple days, as the Bears have looked to Northern California for their two commits of the day. They've looked to Granite Bay for both, snagging OL Will Craig and gaining a commitment from his teammate Evan Tattersall, an outside linebacker out of the Sacramento suburb. The 3-star LB becomes the 11th commit for the Bears

Tattersall's commitment comes only about a month after his offer, and a few months after visiting the Bears back in April with Craig. Tattersall's dad, John, played under offensive line coach Steve Greatwood at Oregon. He joins Omari Harris, Nick Alftin, and JH Tevis as prospects at the OLB spot in this class.

Unlike Tevis and Alftin, Tattersall is more of the Cameron Goode type of outside linebacker, one who can come off the edge while defending further outside of the box. His Hudl highlights demonstrate a burst off the edge and up the middle, something he shows as a running back for Granite Bay. His running ability would also translate to the inside linebacker spot, which could be a possibility for him.

Tattersall's explosiveness is a boon for a defense that needs more of it, and the Bears are hitting all the right marks with his commitment. They get a local athlete at a position of need with the skillset to make an impact immediately.

Tattersall also had offers from Colorado, Oregon, and Washington State, among others.
