After a win over Utah, Cal received another bit of good news. Athlete Jordan Genmark-Heath, from Cathedral Catholic in San Diego, committed to Cal on his visit Saturday afternoon and decided to announce it today. Genmark-Heath committed to Cal over offers from Boston College, Northwestern, and Army.
Genmark-Heath has a unique story of playing football. He was born and grew up in Sweden before moving to San Diego in 2013. As one would expect, football is not a big-time sport in Sweden, so Genmark-Heath essentially learned the game from watching YouTube videos. This explains why he's a bit of a raw player to this point, but he's picking up the game quickly.
Genmark-Heath has been recruited as an Athlete, without a position to this point, but should play safety with the chance to bulk up and move down to linebacker for the Bears. Either way, he can fill a position of need for Cal.
Genmark-Heath is a 3-Star (5.6) rated athlete, and he's the 78th best prospect in the state of California, which is astounding considering he's played organized football for 3 years.
