South Grand Prairie DB Craig Woodson Commits to Cal

With a need for a defensive back, the Bears moved fast. They offered South Grand Prairie defensive back Craig Woodson on Wednesday, got him in on an official visit this weekend, and landed a commitment from him Sunday. Woodson was previously committed to UTSA, and becomes the Bears' sixth commitment from the state of Texas, joining teammate Myles Jernigan in coming to Cal.

In Woodson, the Bears are getting a 6', 190 lb safety who plays similarly to Quentin Tartabull, one who's willing to come down in the box to make a hit. That resulted in some big tackle numbers for Woodson, who piled up 96 tackles on his senior season.

With that, Woodson also recorded 13 PBUs, two forced fumbles, two interceptions, two blocked field goals, and four touchdowns.

Woodson will likely sign Wednesday as part of Cal's 2019 class.
