A week started by a talented athlete committing to Cal will be ended by one committing to Cal, as 2017 ATH Jeremiah Hawkins joins his nephew Jaylinn as the newest California Golden Bear. Hawkins becomes the third commit in the 2017 class for Cal, joining teammate Taariq Johnson and Bakersfield DL Gabe Cherry.

Hawkins had offers from 16 different schools, including UNLV, Washington, Nebraska and Maryland. The 5'9" 165 lb athlete from Buena Park held offers from seven different Pac-12 schools, including Cal. His primary recruiter, to no one's surprise, was Jacob Peeler.

Hawkins was productive as in both dimensions of the Buena Park offense, catching 45 passes for 775 yards and five touchdowns, while taking 21 carries for 267 yards with 3 touchdowns over eight games. Hawkins projects as an inside receiver, in a similar position as Melquise Stovall. Hawkins may be the next domino in the Buena Park commitment train, as teammates OL Ryan Nelson and ATH Elijah Gates hold Cal offers.

Rivals ranks Hawkins as a 3-star (5.6) prospect. He currently sits as the 58th ranked player in the state of California.
