Without Crabbe, Cal loses second straight

PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) -- Brock Motum scored 19 points off the bench on Saturday to lead Washington State to a 75-71 victory over the Cal basketball team.
The Cougars (17-8, 7-6 in the Pac-10) saw five players score in double figures -- and those five did all the scoring for the winners. Faisal Aden, a reserve like Motum, scored 18 points. DeAngelo Casto scored 14, Klay Thompson had 13 and Reggie Moore finished with 11 points.

Washington State starters Abe Lodwick and Marcus Capers were held scoreless in 37 combined minutes.
Jorge Gutierrez led the Bears (13-12, 6-7) with 19 points, all in the second half, but missed a tying 3-pointer with 3 seconds remaining. The score stayed at 74-71 and Moore made a free throw for the Cougars to close the scoring.
Harper Kamp had 17 points and nine rebounds for Cal, and Jeff Powers scored 14 points.
The Bears played without injured starter Allen Crabbe, who sat out the contest after being hit in the head at Washington on Thursday.
Cal now returns home to host USC on Thursday and UCLA on Sunday in Haas Pavilion.
