The 5-foot-10, 180-pound Walker said that he had tried to call Ashley Ambrose -- but that the Bears defensive backs coach was out to dinner with family, so, he did the next best thing: He called running backs coach and area recruiter Ron Gould.
"I was trying to call him for like five minutes, and nobody was picking up," Walker laughed. "I just talked it over with my family, and I decided to commit to the school. I think I liked the school the most out of [other suitors]. From some of my future teammates, I heard nothing but good things about coach Dykes."
Walker -- the No. 44 cornerback in the nation -- missed the last two games of his senior season because of a broken collarbone, but still caught 11 balls for 93 yards and one touchdown, while notching 22 tackles and six passes defended.
As a junior, Walker rushed 87 times for 490 yards with seven touchdowns and caught one pass for 11 yards on offense, while tallying 43 tackles, 2.5 sacks, two interceptions, seven passes defended, one fumble recover and one forced fumble on defense.
With Walker's commitment, the Bears rocket from No. 47 to No. 40 in the Rivals.com national team recruiting class rankings.
Stay tuned for more on Walker's commitment.
