Viramontes is Golden

Norco quarterback Victor Viramontes announced for Cal on Wednesday and will sign with the Golden Bears. He chose Cal over finalists Arizona, Michigan and Utah. The 6'1", 220 pound signal-caller will join Max Gilliam as Cal's second quarterback signee for 2016.

Viramontes committed to Michigan in June, but backed off his pledge in early December. Cal extended a scholarship offer the same day. He took an official visit to Cal this past weekend and announced his commitment today on FoxSportsWest.

In his senior season, Viramontes passed for over 2000 yards and threw 20 touchdowns against 7 interceptions. A fast and physical runner, he added nearly 1100 yards rushing and 15 more scores. He guided Norco to an 8-3 record.

Rivals rates Viramontes as a 3-star (5.7) prospect and the 15th best dual-threat quarterback in the 2016 class. Additionally, he is rated the 50th best prospect in the state of California.

Viramontes held 17 scholarship offers in total.
