As a result of a number of unfortunate incidents that occurred during the recent San Francisco 49ers-Oakland Raiders preseason game, several new safety measures will be instituted at Candlestick Park to help ensure that the stadium remains a safe environment to enjoy and watch football. These new steps will be in place for the Sept. 3 Cal vs. Fresno State game at the stadium.
-- Additional security staff will be stationed inside the stadium and parking lots.
-- Additional SFPD squad cars will be stationed in parking lots.
-- Uniformed and plain-clothed police will patrol restrooms throughout the stadium.
-- Tailgating will be limited to four hours prior to kickoff. Once the game begins, security will conduct a sweep of the lots, and remaining fans will be asked to either enter the stadium or vacate the premises.
-- Smoking will not be allowed through the stadium.
-- A no re-entry policy will be in effect.
-- Additional lighting towers will be stationed in the parking lots.
