Hot late commodity Tyson Jolly commits to Cal

A day after a losing out on the services of 5-star big man Caleb Swanigan, the Bears added 3-star little(ish) man Tyson Jolly -- a 6'4" All-State shooting guard out of Oklahoma City who has been one of the most highly sought after 2015 commodities this spring.

Less than a year ago, Jolly was told by doctors that his basketball career might be over. Blood clots had spread from his legs to his lungs and he had a pulmonary embolism that seriously jeopardized his health.
"The first night I went to the hospital the doctor said I was never going to play again," Jolly told Rivals.com back in December at the Tarkanian Classic. "I didn't know what to do because all I do is play basketball. I wasn't nervous when I came back. I was ready. It's just natural. I don't like losing."
Jolly, now playing with a full bill of health, rebounded with a spring that will see him finish a 4-star guard and a member of the final Rivals150 rankings according to national recruiting analyst Eric Bossi.
Not a bad consolation prize, yeah?
"It's a family environment and the coaches showed me that I was someone they just had to have next year," Jolly told Rivals Saturday morning. "I talked to Coach Martin every day and I built strong relationships with the coaches and team."
Cal was the first power five conference program to extend an offer to Jolly in late February, and he blew up from there, adding offers from Creighton, Oklahoma State, TCU, and Gonzaga, which he had planned to officially visit next weekend.
That visit won't happen now.
An aggressive wing who likes playing at a fast pace, Jolly will become the second Rivals150 member of the Bears 2015 class joining Davon Dillard.
