Friday Night Lights Rewind: A look at how Cals commits fared

Friday Night Lights Rewind triumphantly returns now that all of Cal's commits are in action, and that means GoldenBearReport has the rundown on how the Cal verbal commits fared in this weekend's action (and in some cases, last weekend's action, too).

Austin Aaron, Wide Receiver (Napa High-Napa, CA)
A week after a 37-6 throttling of Montgomery where Napa only attempted 3 passes all game and Aaron recorded an interception on defense, they shut out Casa Grande 31-0. Once again leaning heavily on the run game, Aaron still managed to snag a 10-yard touchdown reception, and used his length to block a field goal at the end of the first half. Napa has a bye this week. Aaron has 3 catches for 31 yards on the season.
Greyson Bankhead, Wide Receiver (Centennial- Corona, CA)
Bankhead had 4 receptions for 60 yards in a thrilling 52-49 shootout win over Orange Lutheran. He also had a 28-yard touchdown reception negated due to a holding penalty. In last week's 38-18 defeat at the hands of Mater Dei, Bankhead had 4 catches for 56 yards and a score. The 1-1 Huskies host powerhouse Bishop Gorman out of Nevada this Friday.
Lonny Powell, Running Back (Sacramento High- Sacramento, CA)
Lonny Powell did Lonny Powell things in Sac High's 53-13 clobbering of El Camino. He rushed for 30 yards on 4 carries in a game where the offense threw for over 400 yards, but made his impact on the deensive side of the ball with 8 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, and 3 sacks. Sac High next faces Vista Del Lago on Friday.
Johnny Capra, Offensive Line (Placer- Auburn, CA)
One week after a disappointing 41-20 defeat against Nevada Union, Placer dominated Pioneer in a 55-0 shutout victory. Capra and the offensive line paved the way for 297 rushing yards (9 yards per carry) and Placer's quarterback only attempted 6 passes all night. The Hillmen host Sheldon this Friday.
Zeandae Johnson, Defensive End (Central- Fresno, CA)
Johnson and the Central Grizzlies have had a tough start to the season. In week 1, they lost in the closing minute to Liberty (Brentwood), 27-26. Johnson recorded two catches at tight end and two tackles as a defensive end in that contest. Then they were handled by Grant 36-13 on Friday. Johnson recorded 3 receptions for 30 yards and one tackle in that contest. The 0-2 Grizzlies hope to return to their winning ways as they travel to Bakersfield to face THAT city's version of Liberty High on Friday.
Malik Psalms, Cornerback (Ayala- Chino Hills, CA)
Psalms did not allow a completion and recorded 4 tackles in Ayala's dominant 37-7 win over El Dorado on Thursday night. They sit at 1-1 after a week 1 loss to Burbank. Ayala travels to Pomona to face Diamond ranch on Friday.
Trevor Howard, Defensive End (Oaks Christian- Westlake Village, CA)
Oaks Christian has struggled to start their 2014 campaign, sitting at 0-2 after losses against Bakersfield and Central Catholic (San Diego). Howard recorded a 5-yard touchdown reception at tight end in Saturday's 28-21 loss against Central Catholic, but sustained a knee injury of unknown severity in that game and his status for the rest of the season is unknown as of now. The Lions host Venice Friday.
Ryan Gibson, Offensive Line (St. Stanislaus- Bay St. Louis, MS)
The Rockachaws are rolling at 3-0 after a 34-19 defeat of Denham (Louisiana) on Friday. The 34 points was St. Stanislaus' lowest score total through three games, after scoring 55 in their first two wins. Behind Gibson and a sturdy offensive line, the offense is averaging 540yards per game. Mississippi's #1 ranked 4A team hosts St. Martin this week.
Ross Bowers, Quarterback (Bothell High- Bothell, WA)
Bowers was solid in Bothell's 41-19 season opening win over Eastlake, throwing for 258 yards and completing 17 of 29 pass attempts. He threw touchdown passes of 85, 50 and 65 yards and did not turn the ball over. Bothell hosts Issaquah this Friday.
Luc Bequette, Defensive Tackle (Catholic- Little Rock, AR)
Bequette and Catholic lost their season opener against North Little Rock on Thursday night, 17-7. They'll take on Cabot on the road this week.
