Back in January, four-star power forward Aiden Sherrell named a top eight that included Alabama, Arizona State, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Oklahoma, UNLV, and USC. Since that time, the top-25 recruit originally from Georgia has only seen his stock increase and more programs enter the picture.
Connecticut, Kansas and Cal all offered him in the spring, and since those new schools have joined the race he has decided it is time to evaluate all his options instead of a select few.
This spring has also meant another move for Sherrell. He will no longer call Arizona home as he recently announced his move to Prolific Prep in Napa for his senior year. That move naturally puts him closer to the Bears, and will give him more opportunities to continue growing as a player and developing his game as he assesses his recruitment.
It has been a productive spring for the 6-foot-10 forward, and he continued to showcase his skills this week in Las Vegas at the prestigious Pangos All-American Camp.
He was named as one of the top 60 performers at the camp, which can be difficult for front court players.
On the recruiting side, he continues to look at his options and take visits. That includes a recent official visit to Oklahoma, and he has a trip to Ohio State coming up this weekend.
"Everything has been going well, the recruiting process is going great," Sherrell said.
Cal's new staff, led by head coach Mark Madsen, wasted no time offering the four-star big man upon watching him during the live evaluation period in April. Sherrell has a preexisting relationship with new Bears assistant Matt Scherbenske, and Cal has made a positive impression on the 2024 big man in a short amount of time.
He counts the Bears among the programs making the strongest push entering the summer alongside programs such as Alabama, UConn and Michigan State.
