The #CalGang just got a little bit bigger. After his weekend official visit to California, Stevenson Ranch (Calif.) West Ranch athlete Jeffrey Coprich, Jr. pulled the trigger, and committed to the Bears.
"I loved being with a lot of my friends, and hanging out with the players, and everybody was cool, on the team, and getting the chance to evaluate the new facilities they have, it's a good program they've got building up," said Coprich, Jr.
The 5-foot-9, 182-pounder with a 4.46 40 time was blown away by the sheer immensity of the recently-opened Student Athlete High Performance Center.
"It was crazy," Coprich, Jr., said. "I fell in love with it as soon as I walked in the weight room. It was crazy. I loved it. I loved it. I loved it a lot."
In the afterglow of his commitment, Coprich, Jr. -- who was hosted by tailback Brendan Bigelow -- remarked that one of the highlights of his visit was getting to see the educational side of his choice. Coprich, Jr., is currently taking Advanced Placement Calculus, and boasts a 3.5 GPA, to go along with a laundry list of community service, that will be detailed in an upcoming premium feature.
"Having the Cal-Berkeley degree, how far it takes you, I talked to a couple of teachers there, and I decided that it would be good," Coprich, Jr., said. "I'm going to try and major in business and have a minor in sports management. I have a book club that I want to take up under my wing as my business, and I want to put that together with some type of sports medicine, where I only look at athletes in college, the NFL, all that stuff. I'm kind of looking at it to be one big thing, to somehow connect with somebody."
With one of Coprich, Jr.'s primary recruiters being running backs coach Ron Gould, the young Bear-to-be is shooting for the stars as perhaps a future part of the Cal backfield.
