Bears add second hoops commit in a week

Following his official visit to California on Saturday, it didn't take long for four-star guard Jordan Mathews to pull the trigger and become Mike Montgomery's second Rivals150 commit in less than a week.

"It came down to two schools -- Cal and Kansas State," Mathews said. "Cal's close to home, it's in the Pac-12, they've got a great coaching staff, really good players."

On the field before the Cal football team's 50-31 win over Southern Utah, Mathews was seen deep in conversation with the Bears head hoops coach, picking his brain and talking shop along with guard Ricky Kreklow.

"It was great," Mathews said. "Coach Montgomery knows a lot. He's able to teach his players a lot, and it was great learning from him, at least for a little bit. I'm excited to learn from him some more."
