2017 TE Ben Moos Commits to Cal

Cal got something it hasn't had in many year, a second tight end, on national signing day, securing the commitment of Ben Moos this morning as he picked the Cal hat from the table in front of him. The Pullman TE garnered late interest from Cal, decommitting from Utah, and getting an in-home with offensive coordinator Beau Baldwin last week before his official visit. Moos becomes the 5th player from those official visits to commit this past week.

Along with TE commit Gavin Reinwald, Moos represents a new focus on offense with the tight end. From his conversation with Baldwin, Moos noted that they plan to use the tight end in a myriad of ways, on the line, split out, as an H-back and so on. Baldwin appears to be taking the mantle of tight ends coach, and Moos said that he'd love to play for Baldwin. He now gets that opportunity.

Moos selected Cal over Louisville and Fresno State in making his signing day decision. He's a 3-star (5.5 rating) tight end who could play right away. Moos and Reinwald are the first two tight ends Cal has recruited since Ray Hudson in 2013.
