Sebastian taken to hospital following collision

UPDATED (8:30 p.m. PT): Junior safety Avery Sebastian was taken to Highland Hospital in Oakland on Monday following an abrupt end to Cal's first scrimmage of Fall Camp.

Avery, who propelled himself into redshirt freshman running back Jeffrey Coprich, laid motionless on the ground following the collision for upwards of 20 minutes, before being stretchered into an ambulance that drove directly onto the field.

According to a Cal rep, as of 8:30 p.m. on Monday night, Sebastian was resting at Highland Hospital and "has movement in all his extremities and is expected to be released soon."

"I want to thank everyone for their positive thoughts and prayers," Sebastian said in a release.

The team was noticeably shaken on the field following the injury.

"Any time they have to drive an ambulance on to the field guys are going to get concerned," Dykes said.

Sebastian is one of just six Cal defensive backs who've seen game experience in the Bears' secondary. Of the 14 defensive backs listed on Cal's roster, seven are true or redshirt freshman.
