Moore planing trips

For much of the summer, Winnfield (La.) High School receiver Alonzo Moore has spent his time in the Southeast attending various camps. But last week the 6-foot-2 and 193-pound talented 2012 prospect ventured into the Midwest and attended a Nebraska camp.

"It was great at Nebraska and the coaches were great," said Moore, who had 49 catches for 1,246 yards and 17 touchdowns last year. "The facilties were also good and so were their academic programs. At first, Nebraska said they were offering me as a receiver but after camp, they said they were offering me as an athlete."

Along with Nebraska, Moore also has offers from Mississippi State, Texas A&M and Louisiana Tech among others. He also noted a couple of new schools are starting to show interest.

"I would say I talk with Mississippi State and Nebraska the most," noted Moore, who also rushed for 591 yards and nine touchdowns last year. "Ole Miss has shown a little interest here lately and so has Oregon."

And in the coming weeks, Moore plans to visit several schools that have offered him as well as the schools starting to show interest.

"Starting in mid-July, I have a lot of visits and camps planned and it's going to be a lot of fun," said Moore, who was timed with 4.43 speed earlier this summer. "On July 17th, I am going to Texas A&M and then I am going back to Mississippi State on July 22nd. I will also go to Ole Miss on July 23rd, Louisiana Tech on the 25th and also try to take a trip to see Oregon."

When asked about owning a possible favorite, Moore said that was a "hard" call to make and noted of the two schools he talks with the most.

"At this time it is hard to say," said Moore. "And that is why I want to see more of these schools. Mississippi State and Nebraska are both great schools and have good programs. It is probably a 50-50 chamce that one of those schools could be my favorite eventually but it would be hard to choose between those two schools."

And Moore said making that choice of any school is something that isn't in his near future.

"I will probably choose sometime during my senior year," Moore said. "I am looking at how good these programs are, looking at academics and looking at the style of offenses. I like the spread offense the most but I could adjust to a lot of different styles."
