Sooners On the Verge of Offering Rettig?

Bob Stoops has always talked about a commitment as an engagement, so perhaps when Max Browne left the Sooners holding their ring there was only one possible solution, find a Cathedral. In this case it'd be Los Angeles Cathedral and their star quarterback Hayden Rettig. Adding to the interesting symmetry of the situation is the reality that many thought Rettig could be the Trojans guy in the class of 2013 before a season-ending knee injury early in his junior season.

So while many focused on Kelly Hilinski, Cody Thomas, and Brayden Scott the SoonerScoop staff continued to hear that the interest between Oklahoma and Rettig was mutual, and was growing.

"It's been about the last six weeks," Rettig said of his contact with Oklahoma. "Right after my surgery I started throwing, and. I just worked my tail off and got back in my form and I got taller and bigger. (Oklahoma) saw some big schools starting to offer me and you know, they wanted to see what this kid is about. They saw my first game from last year. After they saw my film they said it was some of the best footage they've seen and I've been really intrigued with them all along."

Interestingly Rettig, who admits to growing up thinking of playing for USC, and Oklahoma may turn out to be a natural fit for one another.
