California head football coach Jeff Tedford comes on Yahoo! Sports Radio, joining Travis Rodgers on Thursday.
[Listen to the interview HERE]
Tedford explains focusing on fundamentals and practice with his team now that they don't know which postseason bowl game they'll be attending.
He'll also incorporate young players into the mix of practice just to stay sharp.
Tedford says he's "just blessed" to be attending a bowl game, after missing out a year ago, and that the team is patiently waiting until they find out who they go up against.
In preparation, the Bears won't treat the game any differently from other contests, but will just try to improve and finish the season strong.
Tedford also speaks about former pupil Aaron Rodgers, and says that the former Cal QB is as good of a signal-caller he's coached in comparison to Andrew Luck, who Tedford refers to as a great asset to Stanford and to the Pac-12 conference.
On the topic of the coaching carrousel in the conference, Tedford says that both Mike Leach and Rich Rodriguez have done a great job at their previous stops, and have the credibility to do the same great job in their new schools and the Pac-12.
Tedford discusses the many offensive styles that the league has, and how his defense will counter them.
The only offensive play that Cal needs to adjust to, Tedford says, is UCLA's pistol.
Finally, Tedford talks about pitching the new facilities in Strawberry Canyon to future recruits to match their academic reputation.
They try to find the right fit for any recruit and their team to have good ambition to succeed academically and on the field.
