Finding a point guard is one of the most important things for college coaches in recruiting.
It doesn't come as a big surprise that the position gets picked over early. The well is quickly drying up, but a half dozen Rivals150 prospects are still on the board as we draw closer to the early signing period, which starts Nov. 7.
Best of the Rest: Point Guards
Tyreke Evans, 6-5, 205, American Christian School (Pa.)
Rank: No. 6 prospect in the nation, No. 2 point guard
Who is in the mix?: Louisville, Memphis, Seton Hall, Texas and Villanova
When will he sign?: The Evans family has told various media outlets that Tyreke would like to sign early, but he has left the door open for a possible late decision. Trips to Memphis and Texas are on the horizon. He has been to the Big East programs already.
When will he sign?: According to his mother, Malaika, Warren will wait to sign in the spring. After making a preseason move back to Texas from Oak Hill Academy, Warren made an official visit to Oklahoma. The Sooners remain strong and Kansas appears to be in it until the end. Cincinnati and Connecticut have also long been associated with the five-star guard.
Who is in the mix?: Indiana, Tennessee and Virginia
When will he sign?: Most likely in the spring, but he could commit this year. Holloway has been to all three schools unofficially and will take return official visits to all three, he recently told Rivals.com. Are academics a concern?: Yes. He is still working on his core grades and trying to achieve a qualifying score on the standardized test.
Tyshawn Taylor, 6-3, 160, Jersey City (N.J.) St. Anthony
Rank: No. 104 in the nation, No. 21 point guard
Who is in the mix?: Georgia Tech, Marquette and Virginia Tech
When will he sign?: Taylor could be announcing this week, according to sources close to the recruitment. The athletic combo guard has visited all three finalists and is in the final hour of the process.
Who is in the mix?: Kentucky, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Texas, Marquette and North Carolina
When will he sign?: He's the hardest one on the board to decipher. Jones will visit Minnesota and Oklahoma in November and could potentially sign in November. If not, don't be surprised to see him become the most sought-after point guard in the nation next spring.
