We're in day two of digging through the collegiate coaching ranks to assemble a "Dream Staff" of assistants on both sides of the ball.

Yesterday we dove into the offense, today, we tackle the defense.

And again, this is an exercise in identifying the kind of coaches Cal should be targeting in a college football landscape where salary constraints, regional comfort and tenure do not exist. In the words of former Colorado head coach Jon Embree, equate this to hiring "mercenaries" for immediate football success.
