Only a month away from Fall Camp, the Cal football team will unofficially get the new season started Monday afternoon when both returning players and incoming freshmen report for voluntary workouts at Memorial Stadium. Overall, the Bears return 17 of 22 starters along with several other athletes who earned valuable playing time last season. The bevy of experience coming back means young players who would usually move up the depth chart are going to have to battle hard for playing time. Of course, young or not, there are a handful of athletes from the recent 2008 class that will be counted on to produce. Leading the charge is wide receiver Verran Tucker, arguably the best overall pass-catcher on the roster. [ details]
